IMP C MAXIMIANVS AVG Laureate bust of Maximianus to left, in the guise of Hercules, holding club over his right shoulder and wearing lion skin over his left. Rev. GENIO POPV-LI ROMANI / B / PL The Genius of the Roman people, naked but for chlamys, standing front, head to left, wearing kalathos and holding patera in his right hand and cornucopiae with his left. Bastien 38 (one example recorded). Bastien Suppl. II, 38b (one example recorded). RIC 49. Extremely rare, apparently the third known example. Struck from a somewhat worn reverse die, otherwise, very fine.
